Our Story
In October 1990, John & Veronica bought the Garth Farm and moved into the Garth Country House with their two young sons, and their daughter soon-to-follow. After an extensive renovation, Garth Country House provided a beautiful home to the family, surrounded by glorious nature and an abundant outdoor lifestyle. In 2007, Veronica began renovation work on the two now-retired barns adjacent to the House, with dreams of creating a beautiful and tranquil countryside paradise open to guests seeking to enjoy, explore, recharge and celebrate in the beauty of Mid Wales.
The Beginning of Garth Barns
In 2008, and after total transformation that captured both the essence of the original elements of the Barns as well as the style and accessibility requirements of modern living, Garth Barns opened as a self-catering venue.
With Hafod Barn and Ty Nant Barn open to guests, Garth Barns began to welcome visitors for idyllic family holidays, glorious countryside weddings, vibrant and active corporate away days and group celebrations of all sizes and types.
Since then, the wonderful reviews and personal notes of appreciation from valued guests, inspire John & Veronica to create an exceptional experience for everyone who chooses Garth Barns & Country House as the venue for their retreat.
Garth Country House
A decade later, with the continued success of Garth Barns, and with their three children now based in London and Bristol, John & Veronica decided it was time to retire from the Country House and open it up to be enjoyed to the fullest extent once again.
And so, after a transformative and sympathetic renovation, the Country House was opened to guests and Garth Barns became Garth Barns & Country House.
Today, Garth Barns & Country House provides one venue set against the backdrop of the most glorious countryside, with clean and thoughtfully designed accommodation across 18 bedrooms, a 230 acre estate to explore and outstanding facilities exclusively available for retreat guests at the venue. With an abundance of space both indoors and outdoors and the greatest of adaptability, it continues to provide the ultimate destination for many types of retreat.
