While it is preferred that retreat hosts hire the entire venue, and this is the only option from Easter to the end of September, it may be possible to hire just one or two of the properties. This will depend on availability, time of year and any existing bookings that may have already been made and whether they are on an exclusive basis.

Across both Barns and Garth Country House, it is possible to comfortably accommodate up to *38 guests overnight in their own bed. Most retreat numbers are much lower than this as many guests prefer to have their own ensuite room. There are 18 bedrooms, of which 16 are ensuite.
* Please note: 24 is the maximum recommended number in the studio space for yoga. Pricing is different for higher numbers of guests.

By Car: Most guests arrive by car. The venue is 4 hours drive from London, 2 ½ from Manchester and 2 hours drive from Liverpool and Birmingham.
Train: London is from 31/2 hours by train. The closest station, Caersws, is 15 minutes from Garth Barns. Taxis may be booked locally to transport you to the venue. Prior booking of taxis is essential. Please ask for details.
Yes, John & Veronica live on site and are located a short walk away from Garth Barns & Country House. Veronica or a member of the team is able to assist as much or as little as needed – to be agreed on booking, sometimes hosting the whole retreat, whilst also ensuring that guests have total privacy when required.
Support is available via WhatsApp or phone throughout your stay, should you have any issues or requests!
Garth Barns & Country House does not permit guests to bring their dogs or other pets and is pet free.
Llanidloes is located 2 miles from Garth Barns & Country House. Llanidloes has a couple of small supermarkets, a selection of great cafes and restaurants, a flower shop, a pharmacy, a good local organic bakery and store, a post office and a great range of small independent small shops.
EV charging is by prior arrangement and will be charged at cost.
The nearest public EV chargers are located in Llanidloes (5 minutes / 2 miles drive from the venue) and Newtown (14 miles / 20 minutes drive from the venue). The nearest Tesla Supercharger is Aberystwyth (45 minutes / 33 miles drive from the venue) or Telford to the east.
Yes! There is free parking conveniently located moments from the properties for 20 vehicles. More parking can be available by prior arrangement.
Accommodation FAQs
Check in is normally 3pm on your day of arrival.
Check out is normally 11am on your day of departure.
Times are generally agreed at time of booking. Individual guests will be advised on arrival time by their Retreat Leader. The venue aims to be as flexible as possible, and usually can allow leaders to arrive before individual participants. This may not always be possible.
Hafod Barn has two ground floor bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite shower room.
Ty Nant Barn has one downstairs bedroom with ensuite shower room.
Please note that neither of these bathrooms are adapted to specifically cater for disabled guests at present. Please get in touch to discuss options and to ascertain if the venue will be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Servicing of bedrooms is available at additional cost and should be agreed in advance.
Beds are made prior to your arrival by the Garth Barns & Country House team. Clean towels are provided for each guest and there is a hairdryer in every bedroom. The bathroom is prepared with fresh soap and loo paper included.

Most retreats include the entire venue. However, during the cooler months Garth Barns may be booked without Garth Country House, and vice versa. Exclusivity will depend on the terms agreed at booking. Please get in touch to discuss options for smaller groups.
When Garth Barns & Country House is hired all together, all facilities are exclusively available to you and your attendees. In other cases, exclusivity will depend on whether there are any other guests staying in another property at the venue, which can be confirmed at the time of booking.
The 72 square metre studio is in Hafod Barn and features a smooth oak floor with underfloor heating, and natural linen curtains. When Garth Country House, is booked alone for small groups, the large front Dining Room is transformed into a suitable studio space for a maximum of 10 participants.
There are various room configurations available. These range from single occupancy rooms (i.e. 1 double or queen bed), to twin (i.e. 1 double or queen bed and 1 single bed), to triple occupancy (i.e. 3 single beds). There is also one large quadruple room with 1 king size bed and 3 singles.
Garth Barns & Country House is located in a very quiet and tranquil countryside location. Furthermore, it is located at the heart of the 200 acre estate, with the nearest neighbours being approx 1km away! It really is very quiet! Please acknowledge that very occasionally something beyond our control may be heard.
Please note that when the venue is hired on a non-exclusive basis (which is always agreed at time of booking), the team at Garth Barns & Country House will do their utmost to ensure that any other group staying at the venue will in no way impact your retreat and the experience of your guests.

Deposits are 30% of the total booking fee. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to arrival date.
A deposit payment is non refundable, unless we are able to relet the dates. If we are successful in reletting the re-let value (pro rata deposit/balance), less £200, would be refunded to you. E.g. If the relet is the same value as your booking, your deposit, less £200 would be returned to you. If the relet value is £500 less than your booking, your deposit less £700 would be refunded to you.
Given enough lead time, we are generally able to let almost all weekend dates (except for December and February) for at least part of the accommodation. The later a cancellation is made the more difficult it is to relet and the more we may need to discount. We reserve the right to refuse bookings that we deem to be unsuitable for our venue.
If a cancellation is made after the balance has become due, we will endeavour to re-let on the above terms, if unsuccessful and the property is not let over the booked dates, 30% of the full value of the booking will be written off. We would, of course, always consider the reason for cancellation with compassion. We reserve the right to let the property to suitable groups only.
Dates can typically be reserved for up to 2 weeks to allow hosts the opportunity to take bookings and deposits from attendees. The 30% deposit should then be paid to secure your booking beyond the agreed reservation period.
